EXHORTATION TO HEAVENWARD CHRISTIANS

The Christian journey to heaven is a sacred pilgrimage that begins with a transformational encounter with Jesus Christ. This transformation is not achieved through human effort but by the sovereign grace of God, making a believer a new creature in Christ. As the Scriptures affirm:

"Unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3-5).

Confession of Jesus as Lord and belief in His resurrection secure the gift of salvation (Romans 10:9-10).

The newness of life in Christ signifies a profound spiritual rebirth (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Righteousness Through Christ

Entrance into heaven is not by our righteousness but by Christ's righteousness. Our deeds, no matter how noble, cannot suffice; only His perfect sacrifice opens the way. Living as a heavenward Christian demands an earthly focus on the heavenly realm:

"Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things" (Colossians 3:1-3).

This heavenly perspective shapes our values, pursuits, and character, aligning us with God’s kingdom agenda.

Marks of a Heavenward Christian

A heavenward Christian delights in loving God, embracing righteousness, and living a life wholly devoted to pleasing Him (Luke 1:71-79). Such a life reflects these principles:

Hold Lightly to Earthly Things

We must enjoy God’s blessings but not make idols of them. Integrity and daily communion with God anchor us in His will.

Prioritize God Above All Else

Seek God, not sin. Fear God, not men. Love God, not the world. Believe God, not deceivers. Obey God, not personal appetites. Serve God, not self. Worship God, not comfort.

Abiding in Christ involves daily submission to His Word and Spirit. Obedience is not optional but a reflection of genuine love for God (John 14:21). Through this abiding relationship, we bear witness to Christ by our lives and words, empowered by the Holy Spirit (John 15:8; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:16-17).

Stay Ready for the Lord’s Return

The call to readiness is urgent and unwavering. Faithfulness to the end, perseverance in trials, and immovability in storms are non-negotiable traits of a heavenward Christian. Jesus reminds us that "He who endures to the end will be saved" (Matthew 24:13).

Living with Eternity in View

Living with eternity in view means daily committing ourselves to God’s purposes, trusting Him in every detail, and walking in the power of His Spirit. It requires a focus on what is eternal, living a life that glorifies God and testifies of His kingdom.

Final Charge

As heavenward Christians, let us hold fast to the promise of God, knowing that His grace is sufficient to sustain us. May we live lives that will ultimately usher us into His glorious presence, free from reproach or questioning.

"Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58).

May the Lord grant us the grace to endure faithfully to the end, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

BRING NOT THE WAGES OF UNRIGHTEOUSNESS INTO THE HOUSE OF GOD

The house of God is sacred, set apart for worship and service to a holy and righteous God. Bringing proceeds from sinful practices—such as fraud, bribery, theft, prostitution, human trafficking, or any form of ill-gotten wealth—into His sanctuary is an abomination (Deut. 23:18). God's work does not require the support of unrighteous wealth. Such offerings defile His holiness, undermine the integrity of the Church, and dishonor His name. Proverbs 10:2 reminds us, "Ill-gotten treasures are of no value, but righteousness delivers from death."

Instead, believers are called to honor God with resources earned through integrity, obedience, and faithfulness. The true Church must stand firm, rejecting any contributions born of sin, trusting fully in God's provision to sustain His work (Philippians 4:19). Let us remember that the Lord delights in righteousness and purity, and His house must remain a place of holiness and reverence. The Word of God is clear and unambiguous: "You must not bring the earnings of a prostitute or the wages of a dog into the house of the Lord your God to pay any vow, because the Lord your God detests them both" (Deut. 23:18). This command reflects the holy and unblemished nature of God and His expectations for the worship and sanctity of His house.

The Call to Purity in Worship

God is holy, and His dwelling place must reflect that holiness. The house of God is not a place to launder ill-gotten wealth or offer proceeds from sinful activities as tithes, offerings, or gifts. Practices such as prostitution, cheating, fraud, bribery, stealing, embezzlement, kidnapping, human trafficking, drug trade, and cybercrime, among others, produce wealth tainted by sin. These are not acceptable before a holy God. The acceptance of such funds is a mockery of God's sanctity and an insult to His righteousness. Proverbs 21:6 warns, "A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare." Similarly, Proverbs 10:2 reminds us, "Ill-gotten treasures are of no value, but righteousness delivers from death." These truths underscore that no amount of material wealth, no matter how substantial, can replace the spiritual requirement of holiness and integrity before God.

The Tragedy of Compromised Ministries

In our times, it is disheartening to see some so-called servants of God and ministries more focused on wealth accumulation than on righteousness. They welcome funds without questioning their sources, allowing ill-gotten money to build their so-called "empires." Such ministries, driven by greed and a distorted focus on prosperity, compromise the gospel and invite God's judgment upon themselves. These practices reveal a lack of trust in God as the provider and sustainer of His work. God's kingdom does not require the support of unrighteous wealth. Proverbs 13:11 declares, "Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow." Churches and ministries that embrace sinful wealth are sowing seeds of destruction. Their collapse and extinction are inevitable, for the foundation of unrighteousness cannot stand (Matthew 7:26-27).

The Responsibility of the True Church

The true Church of Jesus Christ must reject and renounce all forms of illicit financial practices and refuse to partake in the proceeds of sin. A church that honors God will uphold holiness, integrity, and righteousness, both in its teachings and its operations. The Church must be a beacon of light, pointing people to God’s standards of truth and justice. Accepting wealth from sinful practices not only desecrates the house of God but also sends a wrong message, enabling sin and deterring repentance. Romans 6:1-2 admonishes us, "Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein?"

Trusting God as Provider

God’s work is never dependent on human manipulation or sinful gains. He is Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides (Genesis 22:14). He owns "the cattle on a thousand hills" (Psalm 50:10) and is more than able to supply all the needs of His Church through righteous means (Philippians 4:19). Ministries that compromise their integrity by relying on ill-gotten wealth reveal a lack of faith in God's provision.

A Warning and a Prayer

Let this be a solemn warning to churches and ministries that desecrate the house of God with funds born of sin. Their actions will not go unpunished, for God is a righteous judge (Psalm 7:11). The Lord will visit such institutions with His heavy hand, bringing their ungodly practices to light and ensuring their ultimate downfall unless they repent. May the true Church of Jesus Christ remain steadfast in holiness and reject every temptation to compromise. Let us trust in God’s ability to provide for His work and build His kingdom through clean hands and pure hearts.

A Prayer for the Church

Heavenly Father, we pray for the cleansing of Your house. Expose and uproot every practice that defiles Your name and dishonors Your sanctity. Strengthen the leaders of Your Church to uphold righteousness and refuse any form of ill-gotten wealth. Teach us to trust fully in Your provision, knowing that You alone are our source and sustainer. May Your Church stand as a beacon of holiness, integrity, and truth in a world filled with corruption. In Jesus' Name, we pray. Amen.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION IN CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE

Conflict is an unavoidable part of marriage, even in Christian unions, because both partners are imperfect (Romans 3:23). However, the Bible provides timeless principles for resolving conflicts in ways that promote love, unity, and spiritual growth, as illustrated in Ephesians 5:22-33. Marriage, as a divine covenant established by God, calls for love, humility, and patience to flourish, especially during disagreements (Colossians 3:12-14). Scripture offers clear guidance for addressing disputes in ways that honor God and fortify the marital bond. The following verses serve as a foundation for biblical conflict resolution in marriage:

1. Trust in the Lord for Guidance

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." When conflicts arise, couples should first turn to God for wisdom and guidance instead of relying solely on their emotions or reasoning. Submitting to God in prayer allows Him to reveal the best course of action and helps couples act in a way that aligns with His will. Trusting God ensures that solutions are grounded in His truth, not personal pride or selfishness.Again, prayer is essential when resolving conflicts. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us to bring our concerns to God: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Praying together or individually before addressing the issue invites God’s wisdom and peace into the conversation.

2. Recognize the Source of Conflict

James 4:1-2 highlights the root cause of many disputes: "What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? Conflicts often arise from selfishness, unmet expectations, or misunderstandings. Recognizing this can help couples approach disagreements with humility and a willingness to seek solutions.

3. Avoid Retaliation and Leave Justice to God

Romans 12:19: "Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord." In marriage, it is easy to fall into the trap of retaliating when hurt. However, God commands us to refrain from seeking revenge. Instead of harboring resentment or engaging in destructive behavior, couples should practice forgiveness and trust that God will address injustices. This mindset fosters reconciliation and peace.

4. Practice Forgiveness as Christ Forgave

Colossians 3:13: "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Forgiveness is essential in marriage because no partner is perfect. Holding onto grievances only deepens wounds and widens the gap between spouses. By forgiving as Christ forgave us—unconditionally and completely—couples can break cycles of bitterness and restore intimacy. Ephesians 4:32 commands: "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Holding onto grudges or past hurts deepens division. Instead, couples should emulate Christ’s forgiveness, which is unconditional and restorative.

5. Love Covers All Wrongs

1 Peter 4:8: "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." Deep, Christ-like love compels spouses to prioritize reconciliation over being right. When love is the foundation, it enables couples to overlook minor offenses and approach significant issues with compassion and understanding. Love fosters a safe environment where both partners feel valued and heard. Proverbs 15:1 states: "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Effective conflict resolution requires calm, respectful dialogue. Avoid accusations or raising voices. Practice active listening (James 1:19): "Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry."

6. Be Humble, Gentle, and Patient

Ephesians 4:2-3: "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Humility and patience are critical in resolving conflicts. A humble spouse acknowledges their own faults and approaches their partner with gentleness. Patience helps couples work through disagreements without frustration or haste. Striving for unity in the Spirit ensures that reconciliation is not just a personal goal but also a spiritual one.

7. Pursue Unity Over Being Right

Romans 12:18 encourages believers: "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." In marriage, unity is more important than winning an argument. Couples should focus on resolving issues in a way that strengthens their bond rather than trying to prove who is right.

8. Apply the Principle of Submission

Ephesians 5:21 calls for mutual submission in marriage: "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." This doesn’t imply domination or passivity but a Christ-like attitude of serving and prioritizing your spouse’s needs above your own.

9. Seek Wise Counsel

Proverbs 11:14 advises: "Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety." If a conflict seems unresolvable, seeking help from a pastor, Christian counselor, or a trusted mentor can provide objective and godly insight.

10. Maintain the Fruits of the Spirit

Couples can resolve conflicts in a way that honors God and strengthens their marriage. Biblical conflict resolution is not about winning arguments but about fostering love, unity, and spiritual growth through the power of God’s Word. Galatians 5:22-23 lists the fruits of the Spirit, which should guide every interaction: "Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Practicing these virtues can transform the atmosphere of a marriage, even during difficult times.

Practical Steps for Resolving Conflict

1. Pause and Pray – Avoid reacting impulsively. Invite God into the conflict resolution process by praying individually or together. Take time to pray and seek God’s guidance.

2. Address Issues Promptly – Ephesians 4:26 says, "Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry." Address conflicts early to prevent resentment from taking root.

3. Define the Problem Clearly – Miscommunication often exacerbates issues. State your feelings and concerns clearly, without blaming.

4. Communicate Calmly: Speak truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), and listen without interrupting

5. Forgive and Let Go: Choose forgiveness, even when it’s hard, trusting that God will heal any lingering hurt.

6. Brainstorm Solutions Together – Work collaboratively to find solutions that honor God and strengthen your relationship.

7. End with Reconciliation – Always conclude with prayer, reaffirmation of love, and a commitment to move forward together.

8. Seek Unity: Remember that marriage is a partnership, and working together reflects Christ's love for the Church.

9. Pursue Peace: Avoid escalating conflict and prioritize peace as an act of obedience to God.

Overall, conflict in Christian marriage, when handled biblically, becomes an opportunity for growth, deeper intimacy, and spiritual maturity. By following God’s Word and relying on His grace, couples can transform disputes into stepping stones toward a more Christ-centered and harmonious union.

CAUSES OF CONFLICTS IN CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE

Conflict in Christian marriage is not uncommon, as marriage involves two individuals with unique personalities, experiences, and expectations. Understanding the causes of these conflicts can help couples address them with wisdom and grace. Below are key causes of conflicts in Christian marriages.

The scripture says, "as the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come". This illustrates that conflicts and struggles in life, including in Christian marriages, do not arise without cause. Just as a bird does not randomly land but moves purposefully, conflict often has underlying reasons that must be understood and addressed. Just as a wandering bird seems aimless, miscommunication in marriage can lead to misunderstanding and discord. When couples fail to communicate openly or interpret each other’s actions wrongly, it creates a "wandering" dynamic that invites unnecessary conflict. The swallow’s flight is intentional and often follows predictable patterns. Similarly, recurring conflicts in marriage often stem from habitual behaviors or unresolved issues. For example, neglecting quality time or failing to address financial concerns can create ongoing tension.

Moreover, the verse emphasizes that a "curse causeless" will not come, pointing to the importance of avoiding unfounded blame. In marriage, assigning fault without understanding the real issue can escalate conflict. Instead, couples should focus on the problem rather than attacking each other personally. If conflict has a cause, it also has a solution. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord and seek His guidance. By bringing issues before God in prayer and studying His Word, couples can identify and address the sources of their struggles with wisdom and love.

1. Conflict Has a Cause

This verse teaches that nothing happens without reason. Similarly, marital conflicts do not arise out of thin air. There are always underlying factors, such as unmet needs, unresolved issues, or misaligned expectations. Identifying these root causes is essential to resolving disputes effectively.

2.Selfishness

James 4:1-2 points to selfish desires as a root of many quarrels: "What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?" When one or both partners prioritize their needs, preferences, or ambitions over their spouse’s well-being, conflict is inevitable.

3. Unmet Expectations

Proverbs 13:12 states: "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life." Unrealistic or uncommunicated expectations—whether about finances, intimacy, roles, or parenting—can lead to disappointment and resentment when they are not met.

4. Poor Communication

Proverbs 18:21 reminds us of the power of words: "The tongue has the power of life and death." Misunderstandings, harsh words, or a lack of open, honest dialogue can cause unnecessary tension. Failure to actively listen and empathize can further escalate disagreements.

5. Financial Stress

1 Timothy 6:10 warns: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil." Disagreements over spending habits, budgeting, or financial priorities often create friction. Financial strain can also cause anxiety and blame, adding to the stress in the marriage.

6. Differences in Priorities or Values

Amos 3:3 poses a crucial question: "Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?" Couples may experience conflict when their priorities, values, or life goals differ. This can include how they spend time, raise children, or serve in ministry.

6. In-law or Family Issues

Genesis 2:24 emphasizes the importance of leaving and cleaving: "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife." Interference or strained relationships with extended family can cause tension, particularly when boundaries are not clearly defined or respected.

7. Spiritual Differences or Immaturity

2 Corinthians 6:14 cautions: "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers." Even in Christian marriages, differences in spiritual maturity or devotion to Christ can create discord. For instance, one spouse may prioritize church involvement while the other does not, leading to feelings of imbalance or frustration.

8. Lack of Intimacy or Emotional Connection

1 Corinthians 7:3-5 stresses the importance of fulfilling marital duties: "The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband." A lack of physical or emotional intimacy can make one or both partners feel neglected, leading to misunderstandings or bitterness.

9. Unresolved Past Issues

Ephesians 4:26-27 warns against holding onto anger: "Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold." Unresolved arguments, past hurts, or lingering guilt can resurface, causing tension and distrust.

10. Stress and External Pressures

Matthew 11:28-30 offers comfort in times of stress: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Pressures from work, health challenges, or life transitions can lead to short tempers, reduced patience, and difficulty focusing on the relationship.

11.Differences in Parenting Styles

Proverbs 22:6 emphasizes raising children in a godly way: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." Couples may disagree on discipline, education, or spiritual upbringing for their children, leading to frustration and discord.

12. Unrealistic Views of Marriage

Many Christian couples enter marriage with idealistic expectations, believing their faith will prevent all conflict. However, John 16:33 remind us: "In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." When reality doesn’t align with these expectations, it can lead to disillusionment and conflict. Understanding the causes of conflict in Christian marriage equips couples to approach issues with grace and biblical wisdom. By addressing these root causes and seeking God’s guidance, couples can strengthen their relationship and overcome challenges together.

BIBLICAL DESCRIPTION OF A SOOTHSAYER

A soothsayer is a person who claims to predict the future through supernatural means, often relying on spirits, divination, or occult practices. The Bible consistently condemns soothsaying as an abomination and a practice associated with paganism and rebellion against God. Soothsaying is contrary to God’s will because it seeks guidance apart from Him and aligns with the works of darkness.

Key Characteristics of a Soothsayer in Scripture

1. Fortune-Telling Through Divination

Soothsayers rely on divination to reveal hidden knowledge or predict the future. This practice is condemned as it seeks to bypass God’s sovereign will. Example: The young girl in Philippi who used a spirit of divination to tell fortunes and bring profit to her masters (Acts 16:16–18).

2. Association with Pagan Practices

Soothsayers are often linked to idolatry and the worship of false gods. Their practices are rooted in rebellion against God’s commandments. Example: The pagan nations surrounding Israel used soothsayers, sorcerers, and diviners, which God explicitly warned His people not to imitate (Deuteronomy 18:9–14).

3. Use of Enchantments and Magic

They often employ magical rituals, charms, or spells to deceive others and claim supernatural authority.

Example: Pharaoh’s magicians, who imitated Moses’ signs with enchantments (Exodus 7:11, 22).

4. Deception Through False Prophecy

Soothsayers may masquerade as prophets of God but are motivated by greed, power, or the influence of demonic spirits.

Example: Balaam, who sought to profit from his ability to pronounce blessings or curses, was ultimately rebuked by God for his deceitful ways (Numbers 22:1–6; 2 Peter 2:15–16).

The Bible is clear: God does not speak through soothsayers, sorcerers, or anyone operating under demonic influence. Such individuals may present themselves as prophets or spiritual guides, but their practices reveal them as agents of darkness. Believers must discern and avoid these deceivers, aligning themselves only with the truth of God’s Word.

Balaam: A False Prophet Disguised as a Servant of God

Balaam is often referred to as a prophet, yet his actions revealed him as a soothsayer. Though he claimed to speak for God, his heart was bent on personal gain, even at the expense of God’s people. His story warns us of the dangers of spiritual compromise (Numbers 22:1–6; 31:8; Joshua 13:22). Peter and Jude further expose Balaam’s greed and deceit as a cautionary tale for believers (2 Peter 2:15–16; Jude 1:11).

A soothsayer operates in opposition to God’s truth, relying on forbidden practices that align with Satan’s deception. God calls His people to reject these works of darkness and trust in Him alone as the source of wisdom and guidance. As believers, we are to stand firm in the light of Christ, exposing falsehood and declaring the truth of God’s Word.

Simon the Sorcerer: A False Man of God

In Samaria, Simon deceived many by portraying himself as a great man of God, yet he practiced sorcery (Acts 8:9–13). While he outwardly embraced the faith, his heart was not surrendered to Christ. His story reminds us that miraculous signs do not always signify God’s presence; they must align with His truth.

Elymas the Sorcerer: A False Prophet Opposing the Gospel

Elymas, also known as Bar-Jesus, opposed the apostles by attempting to turn people away from the faith (Acts 13:6, 8). Though his name implied association with God, his actions revealed him as a false prophet empowered by sorcery. This example warns against those who use spiritual deception to hinder God’s work.

The Spirit of Divination: Deceptive Appearances

In Philippi, a young woman followed Paul and Silas, proclaiming them as servants of the Most High God. However, her declarations came from a spirit of divination, not the Holy Spirit (Acts 16:16–18). While her words seemed true, the source of her power was demonic. Paul rebuked the spirit, affirming that God’s truth cannot be mingled with the works of darkness.

Sorcery and Its Allies: Works of Darkness

Sorcerers, diviners, and those who consult with familiar spirits or practice witchcraft are condemned throughout Scripture. They operate through enchantments and magical powers, bringing deception and destruction (Exodus 7:11, 22; Deuteronomy 18:9–14). God calls His people to expose and reject such unfruitful works of darkness (Ephesians 5:11).

A Scriptural Warning

“And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?”. Today, many still use the guise of spirituality to deceive. They may claim to predict the future, perform miracles, or possess divine insight, but their practices reveal their allegiance to Satan. “Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.” Therefore, such individuals are not mouthpieces for God but agents of deception (Isaiah 8:19; 1 Samuel 28:7).

Condemnation of Soothsaying

The Bible unequivocally condemns soothsaying as a sin and an act of rebellion against God. Here are some specific passages:

1. Old Testament Prohibition

God explicitly forbids His people from engaging in soothsaying or any related practices, associating them with pagan nations.

“There shall not be found among you anyone who practices divination, or tells fortunes, or interprets omens, or a sorcerer” (Deuteronomy 18:10).

2. Condemnation of Pagan Nations

Soothsaying is cited as one of the reasons for God’s judgment on the nations.

“For the customs of the peoples are vanity: a tree from the forest is cut down and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman” (Jeremiah 10:3, referring to idolatrous and superstitious practices).

3. False Prophets and Deception

The Bible warns against false prophets who act like soothsayers, leading people astray with counterfeit signs and wonders.

“Do not listen to the dreams that they dream, for it is a lie that they are prophesying to you in my name; I did not send them, declares the Lord” (Jeremiah 29:8–9).

Why Soothsaying Is Condemned

1. It Rejects God’s Sovereignty

Soothsaying undermines trust in God and seeks forbidden knowledge apart from Him. Scripture reminds us that only God knows the future (Isaiah 46:9–10).

2. It Opens Doors to Demonic Influence

Many soothsayers operate through the power of familiar spirits or demons, aligning themselves with Satan's kingdom (Isaiah 8:19).

3. It Leads to Spiritual Deception

Soothsayers often provide partial truths or lies that lead people away from God’s truth (2 Thessalonians 2:9–10).

4. It Violates God’s Commandments

Seeking guidance from soothsayers reflects disobedience to God’s Word, as it directly opposes His will for His people (Leviticus 19:31).

Christian Response to Soothsaying

1. Reject and Avoid It

Believers must have no association with soothsaying or related practices. “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them” (Ephesians 5:11).

2. Seek God Alone for Guidance

Trust in the Lord for direction and wisdom. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5–6).

3. Pray for Discernment

Ask God for spiritual discernment to identify and avoid deception. “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God” (1 John 4:1).

A Prayer for Discernment

May God open your eyes to recognize these agents of darkness, protecting you from their schemes. Pray for wisdom and discernment to align with God’s truth and remain steadfast in His Word. As we grow in spiritual maturity, let us expose deception and cling to the light of Christ.

“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them” (Ephesians 5:11). May the Lord guide you in His truth, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

OPERATING WITH GOD FROM THE REALM OF POWER

The Kingdom of God is a spiritual realm over which God reigns as king. It is also known as the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of Light. The Kingdom of God is mentioned more than 80 times in the New Testament, and the teachings of Jesus Christ center on it. It is the everlasting realm of power and authority where God is sovereign and Jesus Christ rules forever. Walking in the supernatural realm of God’s power soaks believers in the promises of Christ. In such a realm, believers are able to partner with the Holy Spirit to perform miracles. Have you ever asked yourself why Jesus Christ told his Apostles that they were not ready even after spending three full years studying under Him? Asking this question opens your eyes to the realities of God’s Kingdom. This was obviously because they had not yet received the supernatural power of God in their lives. They needed God’s power which comes with the anointing of the Holy Spirit to be complete and ready for the task that awaited them.

Gospel Realm: Steps to salvation

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23).

2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9).

3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)

4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."(Romans 10:9-10). And Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20).

Jesus asked His disciples to preach repentance and forgiveness of sins to all nations in Luke 24:47, but to first wait to be endued with the promised Pentecostal power (Acts 1:8). It was after this experience that the disciples began to see real results in their ministries.

This power is essential for preaching the gospel of Christ globally with deep conviction, unquestionable wisdom, boldness and conversion of sinners. Ours is to preach, the Holy Spirit does the conviction and conversion. To receive this Power, you must be saved and purified; then pray in faith (Luke 11:9-13). Stephen, the martyr who preached with great boldness and Evangelist Philip who took the gospel to Samaria with wonderful results, all had the Holy Ghost power.

Purity in the realm before power:

It is popular saying that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This is why power can be a dangerous thing if it is in wrong hands. God is Omnipotent, that is, “All powerful” and you cannot separate His power from purity. Isaiah 6:1-3. Purity is freedom from anything that contaminates. It is the quality of being faultless, uncompromised, or unadulterated. Purity is often used in Scripture to communicate holiness or perfection (1Peter 1:15-16; Matt. 5:8, 48). Like in electricity, power can only flow through a pure conductor. It is therefore reasonable that purity must precede power.

God wishes His children to be above always and be powerful (Deut. 28:13). This is why God is very strict about the purity of His children in total obedience to His will (Deut. 28:1). This is because the more powerful a Christian is, the more severe will be the attacks from forces of darkness on him or her (Dan. 6:3-5). It will, therefore, require the purity, as of light, to constantly frustrate the enemy (John 1:5). In any case, power of the divine type is the holy thing and holy things are the not for dogs (Matthew 7:6; Acts 19:13-17). Purity must precede power because God will only anoint (for divine Exploit) those the love righteousness and hate iniquity (Psalm 45:7; Acts 10:38; Mark 16:15-18). Demons will only submit to the authority of Christ through a believer that is pure (Acts 19:13-17). Hence, to be a vessel unto honour, a Christian must purify himself (2Tim. 2:20-21).

The goal of every Christian should be making it to heaven at last. It will be unfortunate to have used divine power to heal, deliver and bless other and still fail to make it to heaven. Hence, purity is crucial at all costs (1Corinthians 9:24-27). The Lord Jesus Christ warned of the possibility of a miracle workers being excluding from Heaven because of lack of holiness (Matthew 7:22-23). The bible did not say, “Without power no man shall see God” but “Without holiness no man shall see God” (Hebrews 12:14). Purity should define our thought-life, words and actions. Jesus said: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8).

Walking with God in the realm of power:

It is not possible for us to work successfully for God on earth without walking in holiness of life because He that calls us is holy and commanded us to be holy as well. Walking with God in the realm of power means to live a life that is guided by the power of God. Moreover, our working for Him on earth involves seeking His face continually, obedience to His word, relying on His strength, drench in God's power and presence, and wisdom in every aspect of life, rather than relying solely on one's own abilities. This includes seeking God's guidance in decision-making, trusting in His provision, and relying on His strength in times of difficulty. Meanwhile, walking with God in the realm of power can also involve operating in spiritual gifts, such as healing, faith, prophecy, or discernment, which are believed to be empowered by the Holy Spirit. It can also involve engaging in spiritual warfare (2 Corinthians 10:4-5), using the authority given by God to confront and overcome spiritual forces of evil.

Overall, walking with God in the realm of power is about living a holy life that is fully surrendered to God, relying on His power and authority, and being used by Him to accomplish His purposes like Enoch, Joseph, Jeremiah, and Elijah etc.

In the book of Genesis 5:22-24, “And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him”. This story of Enoch is one of the most interesting ones in the Bible. A man whose whole thoughts, words and actions in the day and night, outside and inside, pleased God. He was so close to God that God longed for his company from time to time. God then took him to heaven. His actions on earth qualified him to escape the power of death. Yet, the people who lived in his time were very bad and wicked in their thoughts and actions. There are many people who put the blame of their wicked actions on other people.

Some children put the fault of their ungodly lifestyle on their parents, and some people blame the society they are living in. But Enoch made a personal choice. So, it should be with you. We don’t go to heaven holding hands together. You must, by God’s grace and faith in Christ, ensure that your walk – your daily total activities in this evil world, pleases God always. You must choose to be a devoted reader and doer of the Word, a fervent prayer warrior, a lover of righteousness. You must be a cheerful giver, always telling others about the love of Jesus. You must have a heart that is thirsty for heaven. You too can walk with God in School, at home and everywhere. You will then experience heaven on earth and be qualified for the rapture. Prayer: I want to love You with all my heart wherever I go; therefore, help me, Lord.

COMMON DECEITS AND FALSEHOOD AMONG MEN

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death” (Revelation 21:8).

The bible taught us that honesty and truthfulness are virtues that should guide our words and actions. We are warned against the deceitful nature of lying and falsehood, with admonishing that speaking the truth in love is what God required from all men. While a white lie may seem harmless on the surface, it is still a departure from the path of righteousness. What we are going to concentrate more on … all liars because it is eating up the fabric foundation of Christian faith today. There are consequences and dangers of deceit and falsehood. From the very beginning, in Genesis 3, we see the devastating effects of the first lie spoken by the serpent to Eve. This act of deception led to the fall of humanity and introduced sin into the world.

Throughout the Scriptures, lying is consistently condemned and seen as contrary to God's nature. Jesus Himself emphasized the importance of truthfulness in His teachings. In John 8:44, He states, " Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." Jesus identifies lying as a characteristic of the devil, highlighting its destructive nature.

As followers of Christ, we are called to be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2) and to strive for truthfulness in all aspects of our lives. While it may be true that lying is a prevalent characteristic of humanity, the Bible encourages us to rise above our fallen nature and pursue righteousness. According to a National Geographic columnist, “Being deceitful is woven into our very fabric, so much so that it would be truthful to say that to lie is human.” Likewise In Proverbs 6:16-19, it is written, " These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." This passage clearly illustrates that lying is not in alignment with God's character and is considered detestable.

Furthermore, in Ephesians 4:25, we are instructed, " Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another." This verse highlights the importance of truthfulness in our relationships. While a white lie may be seen as a means to maintain harmony or protect someone's feelings, it ultimately hinders genuine connection and can lead to further complications down the road.

VARIOUS FORMS OF DECEPTION AND FALSEHOOD:

In the Holy Scriptures, we are reminded of the various forms of deception and falsehood that exist among us. Firstly, we encounter the compulsive liars, who weave intricate tales that lack coherence and truthfulness. These individuals fabricate stories that lead others astray and sow seeds of confusion. Secondly, we encounter the habitual liars, who consistently engage in falsehoods without any justifiable reason. Their deceitful nature becomes ingrained within them, and they find themselves entangled in a web of lies, unable to discern the path of truth. In addition, we come across the pathological liars, who possess an exceptional ability to deceive. Their mastery of falsehoods makes it arduous to distinguish between their words of truth and their web of lies. They manipulate others with their cunning and leave a trail of confusion in their wake.

In contrast, we encounter the sociopathic liars, who intentionally and maliciously deceive others. Their lies are crafted with the sole purpose of causing harm and leading others astray. Their deceitful intentions are driven by a malevolent desire to manipulate and deceive those around them. It is crucial to acknowledge that even the majority of individuals fall into the category of occasional liars. They resort to falsehoods to evade unpleasant consequences or to protect themselves from harm. Some may even resort to what is commonly referred to as "white lies," which are considered harmless or even beneficial in certain situations. However, we must remember that lying is a sin, and it is rooted in the darkness of the devil's influence. The Holy Scriptures warn us that the Lake of Fire awaits all those who engage in deceit and falsehood. Therefore, it is imperative that we seek the power and guidance of Christ to uphold the truth in all aspects of our lives.

Let us strive to be vessels of truth, guided by the light of Christ, and committed to speaking nothing but the truth. Instead of accepting lying as an inherent part of our humanity, let us seek God's guidance and rely on His strength to overcome this tendency. By aligning our words and actions with the truth, we can reflect the character of Christ and bring glory to God. By doing so, we align ourselves with the divine will and distance ourselves from the destructive path of lies and deception.

Lies of Denial: This type of lie will involve an untruthful person (or a truthful person) simply saying that they were not involved. In the sacred Scriptures, we encounter instances where individuals resort to lies of denial, falsely claiming that they were not involved in certain matters. This act of deception can be found throughout the Bible, illustrating the consequences and admonitions associated with such falsehoods. One notable example can be found in the story of Peter, one of Jesus' closest disciples. As Jesus faced his impending arrest and crucifixion, Peter, out of fear and self-preservation, denied any association with Jesus. Despite being a truthful person at heart, Peter succumbed to the pressure and uttered lies of denial, stating three times that he did not know Jesus.

However, the Scriptures reveal that Jesus had foretold this very denial, warning Peter of his impending actions. In Matthew 26:34, Jesus tells Peter, " Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, that this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice." And indeed, as the events unfolded, Peter's denial came to pass, leading to deep remorse and repentance on his part.

This account serves as a powerful reminder of the consequences of lies of denial. Despite our intentions or character, succumbing to the temptation to deny our involvement in truth can lead us down a path of regret and spiritual turmoil. As followers of Christ, we are called to be people of integrity, guided by the truth. Let us remember the lessons from Scripture and strive to resist the temptation to deny our involvement in truth. Instead, may we embrace the path of honesty, acknowledging our actions, seeking forgiveness when necessary, and walking in the light of God's truth.

Lies of omission: In the realm of truthfulness, lies of omission hold a significant weight. They are often regarded as the "lie of choice," for those who employ this deceitful tactic can shift the blame onto the questioner, asserting that they failed to inquire about the pertinent matters. As we dig deep into the sacred scriptures, we find guidance that illuminates the importance of honesty and integrity. The book of Proverbs reminds us, "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight" (Proverbs 12:22). This verse emphasizes the detestable nature of falsehoods, regardless of their form, including lies of omission.

Moreover, the apostle Paul, in his letter to the Ephesians, exhorts believers to "speak the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15). This divine instruction urges us to embrace transparency and sincerity in our communication, leaving no room for manipulative tactics such as lies of omission. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus himself teaches us the significance of truthfulness, stating, “But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." (Matthew 5:37). This powerful teaching reinforces the notion that withholding information, even if not explicitly asked for, can lead to deception and ultimately aligns with evil intentions.

Therefore, as followers of the divine teachings, we are called to uphold the truth in all its forms, rejecting the notion of lies of omission. Instead, let us embrace openness, honesty, and accountability, for it is through these virtues that we honor God and foster genuine relationships with one another.

Lies of fabrication: Lies of fabrication stand as a formidable challenge. Crafting falsehoods on the spot, individuals who engage in this deceitful practice face the arduous task of conjuring up fictitious "facts" as they speak, making it increasingly difficult to recall their invented narratives in the future. The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Colossians, urges believers to put away falsehood and speak truthfully to one another, for we are members of one body (Colossians 3:9-10). This divine instruction emphasizes the importance of genuine communication and the rejection of fabricated lies that can harm the unity and trust within the community of believers.

In the Gospel of John, Jesus himself declares, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life" (John 14:6). This profound statement highlights the divine nature of truth and the centrality of honesty in our lives. Fabrication, being a direct contradiction to the truth, stands in opposition to the teachings of Christ. Therefore, as followers of the divine teachings, we are called to embrace the truth and reject the practice of fabricating lies. Let us strive for integrity, transparency, and authenticity in our words and actions, for it is through these virtues that we honor God and build genuine relationships with one another.

Lies of exaggeration: In the holy scriptures, we are reminded of the deceitful nature of lies and the importance of discerning the truth. Just as the Bible cautions us against bearing false witness (Exodus 20:16), it also warns us about the dangers of exaggeration and distortion of the truth. Proverbs 12:22 teaches us that "lying lips are an abomination to the Lord," emphasizing the gravity of dishonesty in any form. When we encounter individuals who engage in the lies of exaggeration, we must remain vigilant, for their words may lead us astray. In the book of Proverbs, we find wisdom that resonates with the situation at hand. Proverbs 19:9 states, " A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish." This verse reminds us that those who indulge in exaggeration and deceit will ultimately face the consequences of their actions.

Lies of minimization: In the realm of truthfulness, lies of minimization hold a deceptive power. This form of deceit involves distorting the truth by downplaying one's actions through statements such as "It was an accident" or "It was already damaged, though," in an attempt to diminish the gravity of their wrongdoing.

As we seek guidance from the sacred scriptures, we find wisdom that sheds light on the importance of honesty and the consequences of minimizing the truth. The book of Proverbs warns us, " He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13). This verse emphasizes the futility of minimizing our wrongdoings, for true prosperity and mercy come from acknowledging and confessing our faults. Moreover, the apostle Paul, in his letter to the Galatians, exhorts believers to " bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ." (Galatians 6:2). This divine instruction calls us to take responsibility for our actions and not seek to minimize or shift blame, but rather to support one another in truth and accountability.

In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus teaches us the importance of genuine repentance and confession. He says, " I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance " (Luke 15:7). This teaching highlights the transformative power of acknowledging our faults and seeking forgiveness, rather than minimizing or justifying our actions. Therefore, as followers of the divine teachings, we are called to embrace the truth fully and reject the practice of minimizing our wrongdoings. Let us strive for genuine repentance, confession, and accountability, for it is through these actions that we find mercy, restoration, and true growth in our relationship with God and one another.

CONSEQUENCE OF DECEITFUL LIFESTYLE:

The Bible warns us about the grave consequences of living a life filled with deceit and falsehood. Proverbs 19:5 states, "A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape." This verse reminds us that those who engage in deceitful practices will ultimately face the repercussions of their actions. In Psalm 101:7, King David by divine inspiration declares, “He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight." This verse emphasizes the importance of maintaining a lifestyle of truthfulness and integrity, rejecting deceit and falsehood in all aspects of our lives. Furthermore, in Proverbs 12:19, we are reminded that " The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment." This verse highlights the fleeting nature of lies and falsehood, while emphasizing the enduring power of truth.

The Bible indeed provides us with examples of God's punishment for lying, serving as a reminder of the seriousness with which He views deceit. Gehazi's story, found in 2 Kings 5, illustrates the consequences of his dishonesty. After lying to the prophet Elisha about his actions, Gehazi was struck with leprosy, a divine punishment that manifested on the very same day he told the lie. Similarly, the account of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5 demonstrates the severe consequences of their deliberate deception. They conspired to withhold a portion of the proceeds from the sale of their property while pretending to give the full amount to the early Christian community. As a result, both Ananias and Sapphira were struck dead, their lives taken as a direct consequence of their deceitful actions.

These biblical accounts serve as powerful reminders that God detests falsehood and holds individuals accountable for their dishonesty. Proverbs 12:22 states, “Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight." This verse emphasizes God's displeasure with lying and highlights the importance of living in truth and integrity.

In addition, Galatians 6:7 warns, " Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap". This verse reminds us that our actions, including lying, have consequences, and God's justice will ultimately be served at the end of our journey on earth. While these examples highlight the immediate and severe consequences of lying however, it is important to note that God's punishment is not always immediate or visible in this life. The good Lord that exalts His word above His name will never lie through His word. He has assured us that His counsel will stand and will hold all accountable for their actions, whether in this life or the next to come. Therefore, let us heed the lessons from these biblical accounts and strive to live lives of truthfulness, holiness, godliness, and righteousness knowing that God's desire is for us to walk in integrity and honesty.

TOTAL DELIVERANCE FROM A DECEITFUL HEART:

Psalm 120:2 beautifully captures the longing for total deliverance from a deceitful heart. It says, " Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue." This verse expresses a heartfelt plea for liberation from the bondage of deceit and the desire to be set free from the entanglements of a deceitful heart. When we find ourselves trapped in the web of deception, we can turn to God, the ultimate source of deliverance. He is the one who has the power to rescue us from the clutches of deceit and transform our hearts. In Psalm 51:10, King David cries out, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." This verse echoes the yearning for a complete transformation, where our hearts are purified and our tongues are no longer tainted by deceit.

The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Romans, reminds us that true deliverance comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 6:6 declares, " Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." Through the redemptive work of Christ on the cross, we can experience a total deliverance from the deceitful inclinations of our hearts. As we surrender our lives to God and seek His forgiveness, He promises to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). He can replace our deceitful hearts with hearts that are filled with truth, love, and integrity. In Ezekiel 36:26, the Lord declares, " A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh."

Total deliverance from a deceitful heart is not only possible but promised to us through the grace and mercy of God. By seeking His transformation and relying on His strength, we can experience a profound change within us, where deceit is replaced by honesty, and truth becomes the foundation of our lives. As followers of Christ, we are called to imitate His holiness character, for He is the embodiment of truth (John 14:6). In Ephesians 4:25, the Apostle Paul exhorts us, saying, " Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another." This verse encourages us to reject deceit and embrace a lifestyle of truthfulness, recognizing that we are interconnected as members of the body of Christ.

In conclusion, the above Bible verses consistently warns us about the consequences of living a life filled with deceits and falsehood. By adhering to the warnings of the Scripture and embracing a lifestyle of truthfulness, we can avoid the detrimental effects of deceit and instead experience the blessings that come from walking in integrity. Always remember that " … all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death” (Revelation 21:8).
